Dogs Needing a Home
Contessa
This beautiful Old English Sheepdog is currently in our care. She was handed into us recently, and as you can see she is in a right old mess. You will be glad to know that she has been booked into the groomers, but will probably have to be shaved as her matting is so bad. As usual we can’t understand why anyone would let their pet get into such a state; she must have been in so much discomfort. Sadly she can’t tell us, but we guess that she has been mistreated for much of her 6years on this planet.
If you would like to know more about her then please contact us on 096 76649 or email nwspca@gmail.com.
Lassie
Lassie & Sparky
Sparky & Lassie are both looking for their forever home, they are the best of friends. and play together most of the day. They came into our care with bad leg injuries, unfortunately Lassie had to have an amputation and Sparky now has 2 pins in his leg. They are very loving, housetrained, and would ideally suit a home where there is someone about most of the day. Lassie is approximately 18 months old and Sparky approx 8 months old, both need regular exercise and Lassie, in particular, stimulation, neither of them have been spayed/neutered due to their recent operations. If you feel you have the ideal home for these two, very deserving dogs, please contact us on 09676649 or email us at

Penny & Tuppence - REHOMED
This little dog was found in a garden in Geesala. When we got to her she had just given birth and had 2 dead pups and one alive. She had a very bad injury on her leg. We brought her to the vets who put her on antibiotics and we had to bring her in each day to have her leg dressed. Unfortunately, after a few days it became obvious the infection was so bad there was no chance of saving her leg, and so it had to be amputated. This amazing little dog was back home with us that evening, feeding her baby and since then has done remarkably well, running around and seems to take the fact she now has only 3 legs in her stride. She is a wonderful mother and hopefully will soon be looking for a wonderful home where she will be looked after for the rest of her life; as will Tuppence be looking for that extra special home.

Our special guy - Culkin
We feel Culkin is very special. We were contacted by our vets as he was brought in to be put to sleep by his owners, after he sustained a break to his front leg due to an accident. We were advised that a rather expensive operation could set this right with no long term ill-effect, except of course arthritis as he grows older - and this occurs with most dogs. At the moment, he has been getting cage rest and gentle exercise for the leg since the 24th Feb last, his surgery was carried out in Dublin on the 23rd Feb. He is just bursting with energy at the moment as he has been so confined. He is 5 months old, pure bred black and white spaniel, looking for a home with experienced dog lovers - as it will take him a couple of weeks to get used to being independent again., and, therefore frequent short exercise throughout the day in the first few weeks, to bring his leg up to par.
For further info about Culkin or if you can offer him a loving home please tel 09676649 or email

Sammy
Sammy is a really lovely dog. He can be shy and be worried that he may be hit but is gradually growing out of this. He is fine with other dogs and cats. He likes sleeping on pillows and the sofa. He is almost fully house trained - however as he is still quite anxious he does have the odd accident – more out of anxiety than anything else. He does want to round up cattle and sheep, so he needs to be on a leash around those animals. He loves attention and needs a person that he can love and will love him.
He was neutered a few weeks ago, has his vaccinations, and had his teeth cleaned. He is approximately 4 years old.
If you feel you can offer Sammy a good home please tel 096 76649 or email nwspca@gmail.com

Sadie gets on well with other dogs and is looking for a calm home where she can come into her own. Sadie would need to be the only dog within a family,
